Tons of New Toys! Shopping Spree Dreams

Jacob is an active and outgoing 11-year-old from Mount Vernon. He is described by his family as a caring and passionate boy who is refreshing to be around. He enjoys sports and practices his basketball skills every chance he gets.

Diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, Jacob continues to overcome daily struggles with this life-threatening condition that affects his lungs and digestive system. Because Jacobs's condition is now classified as moderate to severe, he became an eligible for a wish. Jacob was overjoyed to have the opportunity for a wish and immediately shared his desire for a shopping spree to buy clothes and electronics. More than anything, Jacob had his sights set on a new iPad and an Xbox 360.

With the help of Make-A-Wish volunteers, Jacob spent an entire day shopping with his friends and family. His trip began at Best Buy, where he was greeted by a personal shopper. He was able to try out new video games and purchase a Nook e-reader and the iPad that he had been dreaming of for months. Next, Jacob set off for Macy's and Walmart where he bought a new wardrobe along with binoculars and a new bike. His trip concluded at Game Stop where he purchased the final item on his list, an Xbox 360. Jacob was so overwhelmed by the generosity of Make-A-Wish and each store he visited that he decided he wanted to give back. Several weeks after his wish, Jacob donated his new Nook to the teen wing of the Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center.

"Jacob is such a giving kid, he loved being able give back after all that was done for him," Jacob's mother said. "Seeing the smile on his face during the trip was the best part of the wish experience."

There is never a waiting list for a wish. All eligible children can begin the wish process as soon as the child and family are ready. InfoSpot
